Children aged 5–18 who hold a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card are eligible for the program.

Each eligible child can receive up to $500 per financial year.

Parents or guardians apply online. Once approved, they receive a unique code to share with the club, allowing the club to deduct the approved amount from the child's registration fees. Vouchers may also be used for uniforms and equipment if accepted by the club.

The program reduces financial barriers, making sports participation more accessible for low-income families. It also highlights the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of community sport.

The program is administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC), with assistance from local governments.
